The Bingo Game has a very interesting history. In the 1500s, the Italians created a game called “Lo Giuco de Lotto,” which was very similar to the Bingo game we know and love today!
The first “Bingo” in the United States Lottery was played on December 17, 1929 in Athanta, Georgia at a county fair!
At that time, the game was actually called “Beano” because it was played with beans.
A toy salesman from New York, Edwin Lowe, watched the game being played at the fair and was excited by how involved the participants were.
He brought the game back to New York and its popularity soared.
Whenever players yelled out “Beano” it sounded so close to “Bingo” that it was eventually just referred to by that name.
Perhaps this is why the month of December is recognized as “National Bingo Month?”
96% of Bingo players have won a game at least once!
That fact is true for the Arizona Gaming Guide staff! How about you?
Bingo is not your grandmother’s game anymore!
Both males and females of all different ages enjoy playing Bingo.
Today, 30% of Bingo players are 35 years old or younger.
Columbia University Mathematics Professor, Carl Leffler, came up with 6,000 Bingo cards all with non-repeating numbers.
Legend has it that Professor Leffler unfortunately went insane in the process.
